
Caulophyllum thalictroides (Blue Cohosh): Z3-9 N.A.Native. This is related to Berberidaceae. The foliage is blue-green with greenish yellow blooms fallowed by dark blue fruit in summer to autumn. Plant in full shade to part sun.
Aruncus sylvester (Goat's beard): Z 7-8 N.A. Native This is a large and airy woodland perennial. The bold foliage is fern like and the huge billowy plumes of tiny white flowers are similar to an Astilbe only giant. In the wild it is at home in the woods and along streams in North America.
Balsamorhiza sagittata (Arrowleaf Balsamroot): Z 5-9 N.A. Native This has showy yellow sunflower-like bloom. Plant in dryer sites in full to part sun.
Camassia quamash: Z7-8 N.A.Native Ht. 12+*. Once this was a staple food for the native western Americans. Camas does well in moist soil. Since it is an early bloomer it will tolerate dryer summers. The blooms are stunningly blue with a yellow center. They will eventually form larger clumps becoming even more showy.

Camassia cusikii: Z 5-9 N.A. Native (Oregon). Grows in meadows and open woodlands. Blooms in spring, with stunning sky bloom blooms and yellow anthers. Goes summer dormant, allow to dry out. Thrives easily with winter wet, and cold.


Clematis integrifolia: Z 3-8 Europe. This is a herbaceous clamatis that gets to two feet tall and wide. Blue flowers in summer with silvery seed heads later in the season. The new growth is red-bronz. Plant in part sun with moist soil.
Castilleja hispidula (Paint Brush): Z 7-8 N.A. Native This var. has a bright and showy orange bloom with contrasting neon green seed pods. When mature they will form large clumps 2' tall and 2' wide. Since it is a semi- parasitic plant it should be planted near a host plant.
