Attributes: Deciduous.  Medium size palmate foliage. New growth is red to bronze fading to green when mature.  Horn like spurs that curl up at the seed base.
Notes:  Rare maple from Japans southern forests.  Diabolic refers to the horn like fruit reminiscent of horns of a devil.  Slow growing making it suitable for small gardens.  Since this species is dioecious, viable seed is not often found.
