Attributes: Deciduous. Blooms Spring to early summer. Twelve inch wide whorled leaves. Red to carmine and white spathe, with a mottled pseudostem.
Notes: Tall and spectacular species that looks good in the background of a raised bed to stand tall above lower perennials. In the wild it often grows in association with Wasabi, and Cryptomeria.
