Attributes: Deciduous, 12” tall. Purple hooded blooms and occasionally purple patterning.
Notes: In the wild I observed D. aristata growing in Alaska where it grows in moist moss with Fritillaria camschatcensis, Iris setosa and other wildflowers. Like other Dactylorhiza in cultivation plants will thrive in moist, humus rich soil Dactylorhiza species are among the most care free orchids for the garden, adapting to many varying conditions. This is the only native, non introduced Dactylorhiza to North America.
