Lilium martagon  (Turk's Cap Lily, Martagon Lily)

Soil:  Moist, humus rich
Light:  Part shade, sun

Attributes:  Deciduous, 3' - 4' tall.  Purple - pinkish with dark red-purple spotting.  A mature plant can have between 20 and 50 flowers.

Notes:  Hybridized with Lilium hansonii in the late 1800s by Mrs RO Backhouse in England.  Can take a couple of years to establish but is a very strong and long lived perennial.
