Magnolia cylindrica (Cylindrical Magnolia)

Natural Range: Eastern China
Soil:  Moist to average humus rich, well drained
Light: Sun to part shade
Height: 20'

Attributes:  Deciduous. White tepals fading to pink at the base.  Fragrant lily-like flowers to 3" across.

Notes:  Large deciduous shrub or small tree typically growing with vase shape, rounding with age.  Native to slopes and thickets and open forest in the lower Yangtze River basin in southeastern China.  Classified as vulnerable on the Red List of threatened species due to dwindling numbers resulting from habitat loss.
