Attributes:  Deciduous.  White camellia like flowers with red near the base on the outer surfaces.  Red fall foliage.  Horizontal branches and smooth cinnamon, mottled bark. 

Notes:  One of the least frequently encountered Stewartia in American gardens.  Reported to bloom earlier than the other species.  All Stewartia are among the most elegant structural small trees for the temperate garden.  Something for all seasons!
