Triosteum himalayanum  (Himalayan Feverwort, Herbaceous Honeysuckle)

Zone: 6 - 8
Natural Range: China

Family:  Caprifoliaceae
Soil:  Moist, humus rich, well drained
Light:  Part shade

Height: 12"-24"

Attributes:  Deciduous perennial.  Deep green leaves with reddish spring flowers and large clusters of showy red fruit mid to late summer.

Notes:  An unusual perennial that is grown mostly for its showy fruit.  I saw Triosteum himalayanum growing on a mossy rock outcropping just below a thicket of Rhododendron rex at about 2500 m in Sichuan Provence China.
