Attributes: Evergreen. Pyramidal, becoming irregular and flat-topped with age. Juvenile and transitional foliage present.
Notes: Recently discovered species named in 2002, resulting in a new genus of Xanthocyparis. Only a few hundred trees remain in the wild. In its native habitat X. vietnamensis grows in mixed forests between 1,060 - 1180 m elevations. Should prove to be much hardier.
