Arisaema mayebarae (Jack-in-the-Pulpit)

Family: Araceae
Zone:5 - 8
Natural Range: Japan
Soil:  Moist, humus rich, well drained
Light:  Part shade
Height: 2' - 3' tall
Pest Resistance:  Deer, Rabbit
Bloom Time:  April to June
Attributes: Deciduous.  Dark purple spathe, fan like foliage.  Mottled pseudostem.
Notes:  Considered a variety of A. serratum with distinctively dark flowers.  I have found this species to be a reliable grower even under some harsh PNW conditions.  Not as common in the trade.
