Pleione formosana  (Hardy Orchid)

Soil:  Moist, humus rich, well drained
Light:  Part shade, Shade

Attributes:  Deciduous, 6” - 8" tall.  Blooms in spring.  Blooms are large, pink with white and yellow throat.  Foliage is rounded with deep pleating.  Each year the previous pseudobulb is replaced by new growth.

Notes:  Mulch pseudobulbs with a good layer of leaves in October-November.  Also works well as a potted plant.  Tuck in a cool garage in the winter.  If yo do, make sure plants stay between 33 and 40 degrees.  Keep on the dry side but don't allow pseudobulb to shrivel up.
